4. Marketing
We send email marketing about Hive&Weald only to people who have actively subscribed. Subscribing is optional and is not a condition of buying from us.
You can unsubscribe at any time by using the link in any marketing email or contacting sales@hiveandweald.co.uk. We may retain the minimum information needed to record and respect an unsubscribe request. We do not sell personal information or share a mailing list with third parties for their own marketing.
5. Cookies and social-media content
We use essential technologies needed to operate our website and checkout. With your permission, we may also use Squarespace analytics and technologies associated with Instagram or Facebook embeds. Please see our Cookie Policy and use the website's cookie settings to change your choices.
Social-media embeds may allow Meta to receive technical information about your visit. They must remain blocked until you consent to the relevant non-essential technologies.
6. Who receives your information
Where necessary, we share personal information with trusted recipients including:
- Squarespace, which hosts the website, provides ecommerce services and analytics, and may provide or support payment processing;
- payment processors and financial institutions used for checkout and fraud prevention;
- Royal Mail or other delivery and fulfilment providers;
- Mailchimp, which operates our mailing list and sends newsletters;
- Meta, where you consent to load Instagram or Facebook embedded content;
- IT, security and professional advisers such as accountants or legal advisers; and
- regulators, courts, law-enforcement bodies or other parties where disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect legal rights.
These organisations may act as our processors or, for some activities, as independent controllers. Their own privacy information may also apply. We disclose only information reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose.
If the business is sold or reorganised, relevant information may be disclosed to advisers and a prospective buyer under appropriate confidentiality arrangements.
7. International transfers
Squarespace, Mailchimp, Meta and payment-service providers may process personal information outside the United Kingdom, including in the United States. Where UK law requires safeguards for a transfer, we expect the relevant provider to use an applicable UK adequacy regulation, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to approved standard contractual clauses, or another legally recognised safeguard.
You may contact us for more information about the safeguard relevant to your information.
8. How long we keep information
We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary. Our usual periods are:
- order, payment, refund and related accounting records: until at least five years after the 31 January tax-return deadline for the relevant tax year, and normally up to six years after the transaction where needed for legal claims;
- routine customer-service enquiries not connected with an order or claim: up to 12 months after the matter is closed;
- newsletter records: while you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we retain minimal suppression information for as long as reasonably necessary to ensure we do not contact you again;
- cookie choices: for the period stated by our consent-management tool and then renewed as appropriate; and
- security and technical logs: normally up to 12 months, unless a longer period is needed to investigate an incident.
We may keep information longer where required by law, a tax or regulatory enquiry, a dispute, fraud prevention or the establishment or defence of legal claims.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information. These include limiting access to those who need it and using reputable hosted services. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
10. Your rights
Subject to the conditions and exceptions in UK data protection law, you may ask us to:
- give you access to your personal information;
- correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- delete your information;
- restrict how we use your information;
- provide certain information in a portable format;
- stop using information where we rely on legitimate interests; or
- recognise your withdrawal of consent.
You also have rights relating to solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. We do not currently make such decisions about customers.
To exercise a right, contact sales@hiveandweald.co.uk. We may need to verify your identity. You will not normally have to pay a fee.
If you are unhappy with our response, you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at [ico.org.uk](https://ico.org.uk/) or telephone 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the opportunity to address your concern first.
11. Children
Our website is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect children's information beyond what may be provided when an adult places an order.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our services or legal duties. The current version will be published on this page with its revision date.
